SOUTH AFRICAN ROLL OF HONOURHMS CORNWALL / HMS DORSETSHIRECruisers HMS Cornwall and HMS Dorsetshire were sunk to the west of Ceylon on the 5th April 1942 by bombs from Japanese aircrafts. Many South Africans served on board and 39 of them lost their lives during this inextricable engagement. They are commemorated on Plymouth Naval Memorial. |
