Son of Major RA St Leger (SAMC) of George, Cape Province. Student at Cape Town, but left school to serve in GSWA campaign with The Cape Town Highlanders, in which he was corporal. Afterwards he went to England and trained with the Inns of Court OTC for a commission (Source : C.W.G.C.).

2nd Battalion, The Coldstream Guards (1st Guards Brigade, Guards Division)

Killed in action on the 27th April 1918.
