Grave I.J.10. Son of William and Florence Forrester. Husband of Vere Forrester (nee Henderson), of Briar Ghyll, Pietermaritzburg, Natal. Born at Sydenham, London, England (Source : C.W.G.C.). Wounded in Delville Wood in July 1916. 2nd S.A.I., C Company Died of wounds on the 12th October 1916. Age 41. On the 12th October 1916, the 2nd and 4th S.A.I. attacked Snag and Tail Trenches. The assault died away because of machine guns nests, placed well back in prepared positions, which caught the attacking waves at long range. |
