The first view on entering the Museum, is an engraved glass window depicting Delville Wood after the battle. The inscription at the bottom of this panel is taken from the speech delivered by General B.M. Hertzog at the inauguration of the South African National War Memorial on 10 October 1926 : Listening to the far-off call of a World in distress, imploring aid in the name of Mankind, of national Freedom and of World Peace, they responded to the Appeal, and marched to the battlefields on land, sea and in the air. |

In the entrance are displayed the Rolls of Honor of the 23656 South African fallen during the two world wars.
