Grave I.C.24. Son of the late Colonel Edward Napier and Marthe Louise Napier ; husband of Mrs Cubitt (formerly Napier). At the outbreak of war was Chief Constable of Norfolk (Source : C.W.G.C.). Registered on the Roll of South Africans who fell 1914-1918 edited after the War by the South African authorities. Reserve of Officers, attached to 1/5th (Buchan nd Formartin) Battalion, The Gordon Highlanders (153rd Brigade, 51st Highland Division). Killed in action on the 13th November 1916. Attack on Beaumont-Hamel. The battalion sustained 257 casualties. |
