Son of Launcelot EN and Florence E Tyrrel, of Hillside Farm, Matatiele, East Griqualand, South Africa. Also served in German SW Africa with Transvaal Scottish Regiment (Source : C.W.G.C.).

8th Battalion, The East Yorkshire Regiment (8th Brigade, 3rd Division).

Killed in action on the 13th November 1916. Unsuccessful attach on Serre. The battalion sustained 235 casualties.
